Getting around the capital of Spain at your own pace
Now this is it . . . Madrid,
that centre of power all the other regional groups grumble
about. Madrid is the essence of all that is "Castiliano",
the language, mannerisms and graces of official Spain.
You pick up your hire car at one of the locations
listed above, and then you are on your way to finding
out about this bustling city of three million. A cosmopolitan
city, a business center, headquarters of Government and
the civil service and home of the Spanish Parliament. But
first and foremost to all Castilianos, Madrid is the
home of their King, Juan Carlos and the Spanish Royal Family.
Madrid also plays a major role in
both the banking and industrial sectors. Most of its industry
is located in the Southern fringe of the city, where important
textile, food and metal working factories are clustered.
So that's it. You need a car to get around
it, its big, it bustles and after dark, it rocks. Madrid.
