Getting the most out of your hire car time in Spain
Travelling in the South of Spain is
a matter of covering a fair distance between really wonderful
experiences. The relics of Spain's past glories, the breathtaking
views and the graceful Arabesque architecture all combine
to make a hire car a really good investment.
Based in Cordoba, and wandering everywhere
You could, for example, head out West towards
Ronda. Set in the deep El Tajo gorge, this ancient Muslim
town stands on the edge of a cliff above the Rio Guadalevin.
Don’t miss the famous bull ring, or the September Feria de
Pedro Romero.Accommodation can be a problem in busy festival
periods, so book ahead. If you refer to our Malaga and Southern
Spain
"Places to Stay" page, you'll find main hotels in Ronda
and other Southern towns. This is only one possible journey.
Others include trips to Seville and Cadiz. Around the South,
villages near castle ruins are still inhabited and very beautiful.
Vejer de la Frontera is a 50 kilometer haul from Cadiz,
it's a white walled village on a hilltop. There's lots more.
Getting your wheels organised
As in most parts of Spain, your British licence
will be accepted, and you'll need the driver to have his credit
card ready. Some places will need a deposit, and others may
strongly recommend insurance. You can find our car rental
hire locations set out above. Drivers new to Spain should
take a look at our
driving regulations page. |
