How to find a hire car in Mallorca
The islands are a network of roads and ferries
for the driver on holiday.
An English,or other foreign, driver's
licence works, and as soon as driving on the left
is mastered, it's old home week, really.
Because the islands are small, there
is very little tolerance for any breach of regulations. So
be careful where you park, or the dreaded clamps will
be seen. It can be expensive. Drivers new to Spain should
take a glance at our page on "Driving
Regulations in Spain".
Varied pace of life on each island
The main tourist islands of the group, Mallorca,
Ibiza and Menorca have each developed a distinctive kind
of holiday atmosphere. Broadly it is this: Malloca (Majorca),
is for the rich and famous. Ibiza had a raging night life,
and Menorca is for those who value a quiet rest.
As befits a place that attracts more tourists
per square foot than nearly any other part of the planet,
we have car outlets all over. In general they require
deposits to be left, credit card evidence of the identity
of the driver and the hirer, and some require fuel to be bought
and paid for from the location, before the car is handed over.
The car is then returned empty, or near empty.
If you're thinking all this indicates a wry
view of tourism, and tourists, you're right. But think it
through. The islanders have centuries of experience
(since the Phonecians first made it a regular resort)of people
who feel that it doesn't matter what they do, because they'll
be leaving next week. So, as far as local business people
see it, they like to cover their bases ahead of time, that's
all.
Our locations
We've located our hire desks and other
outlets on the island of Mallorca, where most international
flights arrive. You can pick up there, or organise delivery
to another part of the achipaeligo. On the page above, you'll
find our main pick up and drop off points set out, and after
that it's off to visit the almost uncountable lovely beaches,
or the very beautiful views from the hills, or whatever else
you'd like to see, taste, experience, or do. |
